Since October 29, 2011, the statue of Liberty, including pedestal and base, is closed for an estimated 12 month, so that a secondary staircase and other safety features can be installed. Of course, such an endeavour is costly, but the National Park Services, responsible for the upkeep, management and maintenance of the most famous monument of the American empire, have found and ingenious way of funding the renovation: US Apple Association will sponsor the renovation – under condition that the torch be replaced by an enormous, yellow apple, transforming the statue in the new hallmark for their 5 a day campaign.

Now this was a clever interpretation of the prompt. Written in a way that it is (almost) believable. Very much enjoyed this piece 🙂
Well, a lot of it is fact … it’ is closed for the mentioned repair etc. 🙂
